It was phased out after the [[First World War]] (when all Royal Artillerymen of the lowest rank were redesignated as [[Gunner (rank)|gunners]]). It was also used in the [[Royal Flying Corps]], [[Royal Australian Artillery]] and [[Royal Canadian Artillery]].<br />
